ONDO 2016: Olusola Oke moves to AD

One of the leading contenders in the just concluded APC primary elections in Ondo state,Chief Olusola Oke has decamped to the Alliance for Democracy party (AD) in the state.

This follows his inability to clinch the APC's ticket amidst allegations and counter-allegations of fraudulent practices levelled against the winner of the primaries by many of the other leading contestants.

Olusola Oke's move is seen by many in the political firmament as a masterstroke by the Tinubu political structure as reliable sources has it that both Professor Robert A Borrofice and Dr Segun Abraham has decided to work for the victory of  Olusola Oke while still remaining within the APC in order to teach Mr Rotimi Akeredolu SAN a political lesson he surely will not forget in a hurry.

Indeed,Interesting times lies ahead !!

With Love From China

Last week, the Buhari Economic team pulled a coup of a kind, virtually pulling the rug off the feet of the greenback(US$) and crowning the Chinese Yuan as the 'new kid on the block' as far as international transactions are involved. The ultimate aim- to 'crash'  the N-USD exchange rate by drastically reducing the demand for the $ in buying imports. But how will this work ?.

First of all,it is pertinent to note that over 70 percent of Nigeria's foreign imports come from China but unfortunately/unreasonably is purchased with the US dollar. To import from China,Mr Emeka sources for the $ through CBN or through the black market (depending  on what he's importing), pays Chinese suppliers who then changes to Yuan to supply him. This kind of merry go round makes the Dollar so scarce despite the fact that we really don't import much from the US !!.So,what's the alternative ?.

That exactly is what the CBN agreement with the Chinese apex bank is all about. From now on,the Yuan has become a 'convertible currency' in Nigeria. Thus business people can transact directly with China using the Yuan thereby bypassing the US$.Also to make the currency available, large parts of our foreign reserves are to be dominated in the Yuan.

The expected medium term effect is that the value of the naira will  greatly stabilize against the Dollar and industry watchers are projecting an exchange rate of between N150-200 against the USD at both  the official and parallel markets stemming from massively reduced demand for the green back.

Indeed,we have interesting times ahead.

Emir of Kano takes 18 year old fourth wife.

Former central bank Governor and current Kano monarch,Sanusi L Sanusi has reportedly taken a fourth wife.

The 'Lucky' bride is none else but Saa'datu, the 18 year old daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa,Alhaji Barkindo Musdafa.

While Islam allows up to four wives for Muslims who can treat the women equally and also has the means to cater for them, the social media has been awash with criticisms of Sanusi over what some describe as 'almost a child marriage' to an 18 year old secondary school leaver.

I'd like to know what most people think of this...

President Buhari at the UN

President Buhari addressed the General assembly of the UN yesterday where he spoke on "Strengthening the means of implementation of sustainable development goals and ensuring an AIDS free generation by 2030".

Plus whispers are already flying around that the President might be grooming former Gov. Fayemi as Foreign minister as he was the President's man Friday throughout the sessions.Do you also think so ???

See the pictures.

Graphic picture of Saudi stampede victims

Below is a graphic pix of the victims of the Hajj stampede a few days back.Over 700 pilgrims passed away in that incident.

While my condolences goes to to those families that lost loved ones,I think the Saudi authorities should work more on safety as this years Hajj as clearly shown their vulnerability in that aspect.

Pope Francis to Nuns - 'I love you so much'

It was an exciting day for usually sober nuns as the Holy Father,Pope Francis visited St Patrick's church in New York.

His holiness told the Revd Sisters and mothers : What would the church be without you ??...... I love you so much ..!!!

Awwww soo sweet.Isn't it ??

'Prophet' Rotimi Amaechi and the Stoning of Saraki

The media was awash with excitement almost 2 years back when the then Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi stated on December 13,2013 during the Nelson Mandela memorial service in Lagos that "He only intends to steal $1B".Ameachi further stated that politicians will continue to steal until citizens grow enough courage to start to stone them in public !!.

2 years down the line,we witnessed the 'reported' or is it 'alleged' stoning of senate president Bukola Saraki yesterday .Can we safely conclude that Nigerians are already taking Amaechi's advice ?? Or can we say that the whole incident might just have a tint of politics ??.What do you folks think of the whole affair ??
